St. Antony's Ashram, Alathur
Pulpally area of Wayanad district is thickly populated Catholic migrants’ area. There is great scope for Capuchin Ministry and promotion of vocations to our Order. Hence the Provincial Council discussed and decided to look for a suitable plot of land in or around Pulpally area. Br Mathew Poovassery was entrusted with the responsibility. From among the several plots proposed by him, the Provincial Council opted for the one at Alathur, measuring 3.5 acres which was well-cultivated and had a small house in it. The property was registered in our name on 13th July, 2021. Br Siby Mattathil the first appointed brother in-charge put up very hard work to repair and maintain the existing little house within a short period. Very Rev. Fr Jose Thekkanady blessed the temporary ashram on 28th August 2021. The foundation stone of the new Ashram was laid by Br Mathew Poovassery on 23rd November 2021. Brs. Anoop and Manu took good care of the farm as well as the construction of St Antony’s Ashram, Alathur in its initial stage.
